    Unfortunately I still missing Unity (still waiting it from University), that why my progress right now is quite slow Sad

    Yeah, Eric told me that he is working on getting those Unity's available asap.

    Did you have a chance of looking at the Unity homepage. There are some introduction videos worth trying out.

    Other than that, as you know most of a programmers work is usually not the programming itself, but the planning of what to do, creating the structure of the tasks.

    On that note, have you learned anything about UML or any other way of describing software flows?

    Hi.

    I have uploaded to FTP my first try with SkyBox (skyTest - First try.rar). There you can find 2 sets of sky box textures (taken from what Unity have) blending from one to another, cycle from day to night take 30 sec and from night to day 20 sec.

    I was trying to figure out how to load the system, but there must be something I dont understand about Unity yet. How do I load the dll's?

    Hmm, don't know, what you mean by DLL, because I just run SkyTest3.exe and all works. Only problem can be, that you will see black screen, but that just flour, and you need to click inside that window (to put cursor there) and then move you mouse around, to see full SkyBox.


    Or you have other type of error ?

    Again, small test run, you can move around, but please ignore shape and animations of avatar Smile

    Movements like in standard FPS with ASWD (or arrows) and mouse, only this time camera is not located inside avatar.

    I trying to upload MoveTest.rar and folder with same name, but it seems, that I have no permission to upload some dll files, so you will be needing to unzip tat archive in any case Sad

    You should have full permission to the ftp server with no restrictions.

    Does it come with any error msg? Can it be Windows?

    Yeah Vista is not all that popular, despite its actually a pretty good OS. The target for us will no doubt more be the coming Windows 7 (which is really Vista 2...)

    I saw your movement coding, that looks nice and easy.

    Eric tells me that the animator guys are working hard to get something up and running on their end and we must be ready to implement that when they are. Until then though. One thing that is important for us is to have the Avatar seem very agile.

    My suggestion to get to that is implementing a few extra control features like speed, jump etc. I would to have the character able to choose between up to 5 different speeds from walking, fastwalking, slow running, running and speeding. I would also like the avatar to be able to jump, but have the jump working in the way that holding down the jump key would make the player able to control how high to jump. When jumping, being able to grab a lever or handle in the 3D world and then crawl up on that would also be a great thing to have. We also need the ability to crawl (which is a flag and a slow speed) and to tumble (which is rolling forward and ending up sitting on the knees, for now speed and a flag to restrict movement when on the knees).

    I hope those features will make the avatar feel very agile and fun to move around with, thats the goal.

    Hmm, sounds interesting, and partly easy to create, but I have one question about interface and camera.

    Maybe I have missed somewhere some information, but how did you plan to control camera and interface?

    I assume, that if you want avatar to jump, crawl and do more animated action then do you plan to use 3rd person camera ? And how do you plan to use interface, do you plan to use mouse only to move camera around, or, for more flexibility, use mouse cursor as cursor in the game, for example, like in World Of Warcraft, when you can easy operate with all objects inside you game with mouse, but when you want to move you camera you just hold Right or left mouse buttons, depending on action, and them mouse will move came, but in other situation you will have interactive cursor ?

    And in any case, came scripts are world related problem or interface related problem ? Smile

    hey good question. I agree camera scripts is interface stuff not world.

    We are going to offer 1st, 3rd, Rubber and Filmatic options. Not in the demo though, here we keep it at normal 3rd person. Controls will in time be holding down the ctrl key and move the mouse to set the height angle and maybe have the wheel on this as well. That means we will have an in-game cursor, which we will need to activate world items and entities.

    I have uploaded "MoveTest2.rar" with new moving features Smile

    a) it is possible o change moving speed with keys 1 - 5
    b) to jump press space, but depending on how long space will be hold down (with step 0.5 sec) jump will be more
    c) there is some stairs in the air, if you come close and jump high enough, then you can limb on stairs (but for more detailed work need to little tweak stares, because if capsule inside my ball collide with box collider on my stares, then my ball will stuck and don't go up, now this box collider is smaller size, so my capsule, located at te bottom/middle of my ball, do not touch box collider, and I am not sure, if this is good solution Smile )

    about tumble, is it just normal movement forward with small speed and specific animation, or I am mistaken ?
